Longview Scramble | Sunday, May 31st

Longview Scramble – Sunday, May 31st, 2020.  First Tee time 10:30.

The members of Longview Country Club, (est. 1923) in Longview, WA have graciously invited Northwest Hickory Players for a day of hickory golf at their course on Sunday, May 31st.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to play on a historic, private golf course! Members are enthused with the idea of trying hickory golf, and Rob Ahlschwede will provide rental sets to them. As a result, we’re getting a great deal.  Let’s show the members how fun hickory golf can be!

Entry Fee:  $40 includes greens fees, food after play, prizes, and a small contribution to Rob for use of sets.  Golf carts are extra.

Format:  Four person scramble – combining members with hickory players

Longview CC opened for play in 1927 as a nine-hole course.  It’s back nine was added in 1958.  The routing of holes on the front nine is virtually unchanged since 1927.   Its greens are small (particulary the front side) and fast!  It is a beautiful, challenging course.  NWHP’s own John Quickstad’s grandfather was a member back in the day, and John still has his hickory clubs!   To learn more about its history, read Martin’s piece:  Longview CC’s Early History

There are some great period photos.
