Gloria Minoprio Challenge: Sept 16
Gloria Menoprio was a boss. She played in the 1933 Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship with just one club (a cleek) and was the first woman to wear trousers in competition. In her honor, Northwest Hickory Players presents the inaugural Gloria Minoprio Challenge. Players must wear trousers and use only one club. It has to be an original hickory-shafted iron (no replicas) with a loft of 25-degrees or less (aka a “cleek iron”). No woods permitted. No measuring devices of any kind allowed. The challenge will be over nine holes and we’ll all raise a glass to Gloria afterward. GLORIAMINOPRIOCHALLENGE EmailFacebookTwitterPinterestPrint

Once considered among the most difficult golf courses in the Northwest, White Horse Golf Club is now enjoyed by all level of golfers from around the region. When purchased by the Suquamish Indian Tribe during 2010 there were three immediate goals for their newest acquisition. Local architect John Harbottle was brought in to make the golf course more enjoyable for all golfers. He removed almost half of the bunkers (created by original architect, Pete Dye’s niece) and created more accessible approach shots for golfers into the…
