    2022 Goose Cup: Register Now for Match Play

    Hosted by: Goose Guenette Tournament Director: Goose Guenette The Goose Cup is a 16 player individual match play tournament to be played over the 2022 NWHP season. All rounds will be played at a course mutually chosen by the players involved. The players will be arranged by SOHG handicap index and matches assigned to minimize strokes given. The intention is to encourage NWHP play between scheduled events and around scheduled events. USGA rules of golf in effect. Observe local rules in effect for play on the day of your match.     Swinging for the Roses – May 22

    The Northwest Hickory Players’ Portland Affiliates will host “Swinging for the Roses,” an 18-hole outing on Sunday, May 22, at the Rose City Golf Course in Portland. They have room for 24 players starting at 11 a.m.  Players can pay their fee at the clubhouse. FULL FIELD Built in 1923, the course is the second oldest municipal course in the city and state. Located in the center of northeast Portland neighborhoods, Rose City GC is a classic, tree-lined course that is both playable and challenging for players at all levels.     Gearhart Hickory Classic: July 18-20

    The Historic Gearhart Golf Links, Gearhart, Oregon is the site for this 36-hole, two-day event presented by the Northwest Hickory Players.  There will be 4 divisions for competition–Open Championship, Senior (60 and over), Woman’s and Super-Senior (over 70), with gross and net awards in all divisions.   All divisions will play 18 holes medal play each day to determine a winner. 6/29/22 UPDATE: FIELD IS NEARLY FULL. MAX IS 52 PLAYERS. RSVP NOW. ORGANIZER WILL KEEP A WAITLIST.     Vintage Hickory Classic May 1st

    Northwest Hickory Players are meeting at Meadow Park Golf Course in Tacoma to celebrate World Hickory Golf Day. This year’s event will be held on May 1, 2022 with tee times beginning at 10 a.m. Players will pay their green fees at the course–$40 walking, riding carts extra–and the entry fee for the event–payable to Rob Ahlschwede at the event–$20 to cover a small gift and prizes.     March 20 – White Horse Golf Course

    Once considered among the most difficult golf courses in the Northwest, White Horse Golf Club is now enjoyed by all level of golfers from around the region. When purchased by the Suquamish Indian Tribe during 2010 there were three immediate goals for their newest acquisition. This list included: softening the course conditions, building a clubhouse, and expanding the food and beverage operations to include a catering and banquet facility. Local architect John Harbottle was brought in to make the golf course more enjoyable for all golfers. He removed almost half of the bunkers (created by original architecht, Pete Dye’s niece) and created more accessible approach shots for golfers into the…

    The Northwest Hickory Players’ 9th annual New Year’s Day outing on Saturday, January 1, 2022 has been scheduled at North Shore Golf Course in northeast Tacoma. NOTE: THIS EVENT IS BEING RESCHEDULED DUE TO SNOW. REGISTERED PLAYERS WILL BE CONTACTED WITH DETAILS. We have seven tee times reserved starting at 10:00 a.m. Greens fees are $42 plus sales tax, to be paid on the day of play.     The Northwest Hickory Players are pleased to invite you to the inaugural “Pacific Northwest Gutty” to be held at Meadowmeer Golf & Country Club on Bainbridge Island, Washington.   NOTE: THIS EVENT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED ON JULY 25TH – IT IS CHANGED TO SATURDAY, JULY 24TH.   Meadowmeer is a nine-hole woodland layout located just off the Grand Forest on Bainbridge Island. It features generous rolling fairways, large greens, and design elements which are ideal for both Gutty Golf and pre-1935 hickory play.
